Parks Around Daejeon

Introduction
I hope this page will help you get an idea of parks and other places to visit in Daejeon. Families may be interested in places to take their kids on weekend outings as well as places for groups to meet for relaxing and other fun activities. I hope to include places in and around Daejeon that can be traveled to by taxi, bus or POV.

Wuri Park
My first entry on this page is the easy to reach Wuri Park. Located across the street from the Yuseong Homeplus it is accessible by bus (105 towards Dunsan Dong) from TCIS Campus, taxi or by driving (there is parking on the north-west side of the park. Located where the

Gap Cheon (River) and another small stream meet it has water on two sides. It offers some really nice photo opportunities, especially in the late afternoon as you can see in my Pictorial Tour.  The Wuri Park offers a lot of of features including walking paths, a pond, a large grass field to play on, or just enjoy a beautiful day, big umbrella covers to eat under, and a children's playground to name a few. I hope you, your family, or friends take time to visit this oasis in the city of Daejeon. I think it will be a pleasant surprise.

Ppuri Park (Yes it has two Ps)

The Ppuri Park is located on the southern part of Daejeon in the area of O World Theme Park (The Zoo). It is an interesting area for sure. Its known for its Korean Genealogical Library and as a place to celebrate Korean ancestry. The hillside is covered with statues and other artistic memorials. Unlike the Wuri Park above, the Ppuri Park is located away from the urban setting so noise is much less, though a nearby highway occasionally interrupts the quiet if the wind is from the wrong direction. Along with its traditional information, the park offers a stream that, when the water is
allowed to rise, offers paddle boat rides. The large

grass field is surrounded by a track that resembles streets with all the signage and traffic lights. Pictures in the site show young children taking classes to learn the meaning of the traffic signs, which I find odd since it seems most drivers here ignore most of the traffic regulations (personal commentary). As far as getting there, from downtown on Jungang Road near the Mushroom Bridge catch the 312 or 313 and either will take you right to the park.
